3rd Annual Christmas Show
Thursday, December 17, 2009
Colonial Theatre, Sacramento, CA
Wells Fargo Bank, The Greater Sacramento Urban League, local businesses and CHRC invited Father Keith B. Kenny School elementary school to a free screening of the movie Ice Age 3, along with snacks and refreshments, and gifts and raffles. This year 2 new bicycles were raffled off for the students. The winners were Briza Castro and Xavier Davis- Congratulations! Other students in attendance won various new game boards and sports balls.
A special "Thank You" to Taurus Jackson of the Greater Sacramento Urban League, Ms. Collins, a volunteer at Father Keith B. Kenny elementary school, the Colonial Theatre, the Law Firm of Michael W. Schoenleber, Dr. Laura L. Peterson, Fairytale Town, and Wells Fargo Bank for their generous sponsorship for covering the costs of this Christmas Show.

Nuestra organización no recibe fondos federales o estatales, de manera que son sus donaciones lo que nos permite cumplir con nuestra misión.

Not only do we need volunteers, we also need donations in the form of products, services and financial contributions to sustain our programs. Our organization does not receive any federal or state funds, Your contributions and other donations enable us to accomplish our mission.

Our organization is currently in the need of the following items:
Wall Mounted Wood Magazine Rack or Wall Mounted Acrylic Rack for handouts and brochures. We are also accepting home furnishings or accessories for needy families. We are also in need for a Photocopier for our office.
We are currently assisting with the following:
As of July 10,2009, assisting a family with a fraud situation to obtain a refund from a filter company, that has failed to provide an appropriate filter system.
As of July 13, 2009, a consumer to obtain a refund of $250.00 for a check that was issued from an employer to an employee. The employee cashed the check at a local grocery store, and the check bounced and it has been an inconvenience for the business and ex-employee.
In July, 2009, we assisted a family in obtaining a $2000.00 refund, due to a home refinancing scam.
August 3, 2009, a consumer obtain a $3,500.00 refund from an attorney that guaranteed her husband would immigrate in a few months. The husband has been waiting in Mexico for nearly a year.
August 10, 2009, a woman from Boston, MA, who contacted our office for help. The woman received a call from smugglers threatening her, and asking her for $3,500.00 or else her daughter's life would be in danger. We assisted her by referring her to the Immigration Customs & Enforcement (ICE) agency, who would assist and investigate the situation.
High School Community Service Senior Project
CHRC participated in the High School Community Senior Project with Luther Burbank High School. The project allowed Sandra Espinoza to complete 15 hours (Sandra completed 20 hours!) of community service at CHRC from February 10 through March 6, 2010. Sandra assisted CHRC with general office duties, verification of volunteer timesheets, updating agency Quicken financial reports, translations of legal documents, and utilizing her bilingual skills (English/Spanish) with our agency clients.
CHRC would like to thank Luther Burbank High School and Sandra Espinoza for selecting CHRC for this senior project.

Summer Youth Program
C.H.R.C. participated in the Summer Youth Program through La Familia Counseling Center. The program emphasized in providing work experience for the youths and ran from July 13 through August 28, 2009.
Summer Youth Employees that participated with our agency agency were Alicia Gomez and Meliza Rodriguez.
